This workshop is a creative breather in the middle of autumn, a bright way to pause before the year-end season gathers speed.
Think of it as a catch and release: each stitch is something you hold for a moment and then let go, leaving a small trace behind. The process is what matters — not perfection, not finishing quickly, but simply being present with the needle, the fabric, and your own rhythm.
You’ll end the class with a fresh mindset (and maybe one or two bright trees). They might become gifts, they might stay with you. Either way, they will carry the calm of the time you spent making them.
embroidery floss in bright colors – Valdanis Merry Bright collection was made especially for these trees
a muslin base cloth or weaver's cloth, a pencil and a small round template (like a saucer
small Punchneedle – Ultrapunch or Clover or Lavor or any similar embroidery punchneedle (not the same as for rug hooking)
a hoop that holds the cloth tight
Scissors – small and sharp if possible
A wooden disc with a small hole bored into the center, a wooden skewer, paint or nailpolish
Optional extras – beads, sequins, or tiny bells for sparkle
Sewing needle and thread
Use what you already have. The stitches are simple, the focus is presence, not perfection.
For anyone who wants to slow down, enjoy a mindful pocket of creativity, and prepare for the season ahead with something made by hand. No experience needed — just a willingness to sit, stitch, and notice.
